Code of Conduct

Please read, print, sign and submit back to school.

It is our commitment to provide a rich and wonderful Forest Schooling experience for all students. We want to create a safe and nurturing environment for everyone!

The three “R’s,":

1) Respect yourself.    Students are expected, in accordance with their age, to take appropriate care of themselves (personal hygiene, getting sufficient sleep, eating breakfast, dressing warmly and appropriately)

2) Respect the environment. Bloom is located on 5 acres of private property.  We want students to be stewards of this area for future generations.

3) Respect others.  We expect students to treat one another, our staff and visitors with courtesy and respect.   We are a Forest School committed to inclusion and providing a nurturing environment for each student’s individual needs. To ensure a safe and equitable experience for all, we are able to provide assistive programming that helps all students integrate into Forest School routines, but we are not able to offer alternative programming on a long‐term basis. If any student behaves in a way which compromises our ability to foster a sense of respect and preserve the dignity of every person at Bloom Forest School (students and staff alike), then it must be understood they will be dealt with as described below.

Any student that breaks any of the following Forest School rules will be sent home immediately.

1)If a child verbally threatens another child

2) Weapons or any implement that our staff deem dangerous or potentially dangerous are strictly prohibited.

Any student that breaks any of the following in‐house rules MAY be sent home based on the seriousness of the offense. If that is the case, there will be NO refund or credit on Forest School fees.

1) Inappropriate behavior, such as bullying, teasing, harassment, acts of aggression(hitting, biting, tackling) , pranks, practical jokes, lying, or disrespect for other people or the environment are not tolerated at Bloom. What may seem harmless to one person, may have lasting emotional or physical consequences for others.

2) Ownership and use of cell phones by students at Bloom are restricted, except under special circumstances decided by the teachers( for example using iNaturalist or eBird programs.)

3) Stealing or borrowing other people's possessions without their consent will not be tolerated

4) Vandalizing or damage to Bloom property and equipment is a serious offense and will not be tolerated. This includes any damage to buildings, window screens, doors, bathrooms, any other buildings, signs, program equipment and including the natural environment. You will be held responsible for the cost of repair or replacement, including labor costs.

5) Defacing Bloom property in any way is also considered a serious offense. Any graffiti including writing, drawing, carving or painting names/pictures etc., furniture, walls or any buildings are all examples of this and will not be tolerated. You will be held responsible for cleanup, repair or replacement.

6) Tampering with any safety devices including smoke alarms and fire extinguishers is a serious offense and will not be tolerated.

7) Students must remain inside our designated boundary (this will be explained to students during their tour of our facilities).

If a child breaks one of the above mentioned rules repeatedly we will institute a 3 month probation period. Any further infractions during that 3 month period will result in suspension. Any infractions after the suspension will result in expulsion from Bloom.
